Head coach Skip Steffey says his four recruits will strengthen the program for the next four years.

Women's Golf Signs Four

May 28, 2005

ROMEOVILLE, Ill.--Lewis University women's golf head coach Skip Steffey has announced the signing of four athletes to the incoming class of 2005.

Rachel Parks, Jamie Seidlaczek, Amy Sachs and Lisa Huebsch have each signed a National Letter of Intent to play golf at Lewis.

"I am very excited about our incoming recruits, they have all played at the highest levels of high school competition and shown the ability to compete and lead their respective teams," said Steffey. "The future of women's golf at Lewis has a good base right now, but the addition of these girls will strengthen the program for the next four years and help us build for the future. I look forward to competing for a conference championship in a very short time and pursuing our goal of an NCAA berth."

Rachel Parks (Auburn, Ind./DeKalb H.S.)

Rachel Parks (Auburn, Ind./DeKalb H.S.) is a two-time all-conference player who registered the fifth-best nine-hole average in school history her senior year. She was all-conference first team as a sophomore and claimed second-team honors as a senior.

Parks, who owns a low 18-hole score of 78 and a low 9-hole score of 39, was named Northeast Indiana all-area team in 2003-05. She also placed 18th in the Indiana Mountain Dew Junior Tour.

"Rachel is an outstanding student-athlete, an all-area team member for three consecutive years in Northeast Indiana, and a consistent control-type player," said Steffey.

A well-rounded student, Parks, participated in the Purdue University Academic Super Bowl, was the fine arts team captain her junior and senior years, was the yearbook editor, volunteered for the United Way and was a member of S.A.D.D. (Students Against Destructive Decisions) and the ski club. She also earned an Academic Honors Diploma.

Amy Sachs (Willowbrook, Ill./Hinsdale South H.S.)

Amy Sachs (Willowbrook, Ill./Hinsdale South H.S.) qualified for the Illinois State Tournament in 2002 and missed a trip by a stroke in 2003.

Sachs was a three-time team MVP and qualified for the IHSA sectionals in 2001, 2002, and 2003. She also earned all-conference honors in 2002, 2003 and 2004.

"Amy is a multi-sport athlete and has shown tremendous ability in golf, having been her team's MVP and all-conference at Hinsdale South the last three years," said Steffey. "As a qualifier for the Optimist International Tournament (West Palm Beach, Fla.) she is tournament ready when she walks in the door at Lewis."

Jamie Siedlaczek (Canton, Mich./Salem H.S.)

Jamie Siedlaczek (Canton, Mich./Salem H.S.) was an all-state player in Michigan who holds a 9-hole low score of 35 and an 18-hole low of 80.

Siedlaczek earned four varsity letters in golf and was a three-year letterwinner in basketball. In golf in 2004, she qualified for the Michigan State Tournament after being the medallist at the conference and regional meets. She also was named all-division and all-state and placed in the top 50 on the Powerbilt Junior Tour.

"Jamie is a tournament veteran, having played in the Optimist and Powerbilt Junior tournaments and tours, said Steffey. "She is a strong player and outstanding student who should be able to compete from day 1."

In 2003, Siedlaczek was a regional and conference qualifier, a Powerbilt Tournament qualifier/champion and an Optimist Club Junior Tournament District Champion and Regional Runner-up.

As a sophomore, Siedlaczek was Optimist Club Junior Tournament District Champion and Michigan Cup Junior Tournament Champion.

Siedlaczek plans to major in forensics at Lewis.

Lisa Huebsch (Bloomington, Ill./Central Catholic H.S.)

Lisa Huebsch (Bloomington, Ill./Central Catholic H.S.) earned four varsity letters and was the team's most improved player her junior and senior years.

"Lisa is another outstanding student-athlete who played for a strong team at Bloomington Central Catholic that advanced to the State Sectionals last year, said Steffey. "She has the type of controlled game that can make her a consistent performer for us next year."

In addition, Huebsch finished in the top 15 at the 2004 Cleveland Golf Girls High School Invitational.

Also, Huebsch was an honor student who lettered three years in soccer and was the team captain as a junior.
