May 3, 2007

ROMEOVILLE, Ill. - Providence Catholic High School golfer Sheila Connolly has signed a National Letter of Intent to play at Lewis University next year.

Connolly was a regional, sectional and state qualifier all four years of her Providence career. She finished 48th in the state and registered a nine-hole average of 41 in her senior season, and she was named the team's Most Valuable Player three consecutive years.

Connolly has considerable playing experience outside of her prep career. She has competed in the Illinois Junior Golf Association, American Junior Golf Association, Future Collegians World Tour and Plantations Junior Golf Tour, and this summer she will play in the U.S. Women's Amateur Championship.

Also successful in the classroom, Connolly takes advanced placement and honors courses and is an honor roll student and National Honor Society member. She is a daughter of Colm and Joan Connolly of Lemont.
