O'FALLON, Mo. - The Lewis University women's golf team stormed back from an 11-stroke deficit following the first round and concluded its fall season with a one-shot victory at the University of Missouri-St. Louis Invitational. A season-best 321 in round two propelled the Flyers past John A. Logan Community College into the top spot in the seven-team tournament. Lewis recorded a 332 in the opening round and finished at 653. Jamie Siedlaczek (second), Michelle Dudek (third) and Carly Keeler (eighth) turned in top-10 performances, with Allison Snyder not far behind in an 11th-place tie. Amy Sachs placed 23rd. Siedlaczek carded a season-best 4-over-par 76, one stroke away from her career best, in the first round and followed with an 81 to finish at 157, seven shots off the pace. Dudek's performance, however, was the headline story for Lewis. Following an opening-round 85, the senior fired a career-best and team season-best 74 in round two to finish at 159. The 74, six strokes better than Dudek's previous career best, also was the second-lowest score of the tournament. Keeler (85-82=167) tied her season best in the second round. Snyder turned in rounds of 86-84=170, while Sachs posted a 92-96=188. |
