Oct. 2, 2005 EDINBURGH, Ind. - Freshman Jamie Siedlaczek and senior Lyndsey Krieger sizzled in the final round of the Great Lakes Valley Conference Women's Golf Championship Sunday to lead Lewis University to a solid seventh-place finish in the 12-team field. Siedlaczek followed her opening-round 82 with a season-best 3-over-par 75 to finish at 157, good for a 10th-place tie among 60 golfers. Krieger tied for 15th at 160, adding a career-best 75 Sunday to a first-round 85. Only four competitors carded a lower second-round score than the Flyer duo. Freshman Amy Sachs finished in the upper half of the standings, tying for 26th with an 86-83=169 performance. Junior Michelle Dudek (89-87=176) tied for 35th, and freshman Rachel Parks (90-90=180) tied for 42nd. Lewis recorded a disappointing 342 team score in Saturday's opening round at the 5,967-yard Timbergate Golf Club but bounced back strongly on Sunday with a season-best 320, the fourth-best team score of the second round. The Flyers' 662 total was just one stroke behind sixth-place Southern Illinois Edwardsville, three strokes behind fifth-place Missouri-St. Louis and five strokes behind fourth-place Northern Kentucky. Siedlaczek tied for second in scoring on the par-3 holes (-1). She and Sachs tied for the second-highest number of birdies (five), helping Lewis place third in the field with 15 birdies. |
