Lewis Women's Golf Wins Elmhurst Blue Jay Invitational

OAK BROOK, Ill. - The Lewis women's golf team won the Elmhurst Blue Jay Invitational held at the Oak Brook Golf Club on Tuesday afternoon. Lewis finished with a 326, besting Wheaton College by seven strokes.

Freshman Liz Zimmer (Hinsdale, Ill./Hinsdale Central) and senior Allison Snyder (Chillicothe, Ill./Illinois Valley Central) each led Lewis and tied for first overall with an 81.

Freshman Vanessa Phillips (Metamora, Ill./Metamora Township) and junior Courtney Kellogg (Palos Park, Ill/Stagg) each posted an 82 to tie for fourth overall. Freshman Carly Shapiro (Lockport, Ill./Lockport Township) recorded an 86 to tie for 17th. Freshman Nicole Tucker (Phoenix, Ariz./Xavier College Preparatory) had an 89 to tie for 21st.

"Lizzy and Aly continue to lead the way with their consistent play," head coach Skip Steffey said. "Vanessa turned in another solid round and Courtney is returning to form."

Three Flyers played as individuals. Seniors Carly Keeler (New Albany, Ind./New Albany) and Britta Halpin (Cincinnati, Ohio/Mount Notre Dame) each had a 93 to tie for 31st. Junior Courtney Everett (Palos Park, Ill/Stagg) totaled a 96 to tie for 45th.

Lewis is at the Midwest Shootout on Saturday and Sunday.
