Jenny Turpel Named To GLVC Women's Basketball All-Tournament Team

ROMEOVILLE, Ill. - Lewis University sophomore Jenny Turpel (Johnsburg, Ill./Johnsburg) was named to the 2009 Great Lakes Valley Conference Women's Basketball All-Tournament Team following a pair of impressive performances.

Turpel averaged 19.5 points, five rebounds, two blocks and two assists in two tournament games. She scored 18 points and grabbed four rebounds in the Flyers' 73-61 victory over Drury in the quarterfinals. Turpel scored 21 and recorded six rebounds, three blocks and three assists in Lewis' 67-59 overtime loss to eventual champion Northern Kentucky on Saturday.

"She had a couple dominating games and proved she is one of the best players in the league," head coach Lisa Carlsen said.

Turpel finishes the 2008-09 regular season tied for second in the conference in scoring (18.5 per game), seventh in blocks (1.00 per game) and ninth in rebounding (6.9 per game).
