ROMEOVILLE, Ill.--Five Lewis players scored at least 10 points as the Flyers women's basketball team earned an 81-71 Great Lakes Valley Conference victory over visiting SIU Edwardsville.

Lewis (12-9, 9-5 GLVC) built a 37-27 halftime lead and played even in the second half to record its fifth win in its last six games.

Sophomore Darcee Schmidt helped carry the team to its halftime lead, scoring all 16 of her points in the first half. Schmidt was limited to five minutes in the second half due to foul trouble and finished the game 7 of 11 from the field with four rebounds.

Fellow sophomore Mary Moskal scored a team-high 17 points, grabbed eight rebounds and passed out seven assists. Moskal was 5 of 8 from the field and 7 of 10 from the free-throw line.

Also contributing for the Flyers were junior Shante Glenn (16 points, six rebounds), sophomore Erin Cox (13 points, 8 rebounds) and senior Tenesha McDaniel (10 points, three steals). Point guard Brittney Diener guided the offense to a 49.2 percent shooting performance (29 of 59) while handing out a career-high 12 assists.

SIUE (10-13, 5-9 GLVC) shot 39.3 percent for the game and was led by Julianne McMillen's 21 points. McMillen finished 5 of 9 from the field and was 11 of 13 from the free-throw line.
