KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Darcee Schmidt scored a team-high 19 points, including the go-ahead layup with 1:17 to play in regulation as the Lewis Flyers edged Rockhurst University 72-69, Thursday evening in Great Lakes Valley Conference action.

The Flyers, winners of four straight games, improved to 14-6 (10-2 GLVC) for the season.

After Schmidt's layup put the Flyers up by one point, the Hawks attempted and missed two 3-pointers. Following those misses, Kelly Dianis hit a 3-pointer to put the Flyers up by four with 22 seconds left.

The Flyers' lead was challenged one last time when Alisha Cade nailed a 3-pointer on the other end with three seconds remaining, but two free throws by Mary Moskal ended the threat and the game.

Schmidt was 7-of-16 from the field and 5-of-6 at the foul line in reaching double-digit points for the 13th straight game. Moskal was the only other Flyer in double figures with 17 points. Shante Glenn posted a game-high six assists and was tied with Schmidt for the team lead in rebounds (7).
