Second-Half Run Puts Away UMSL

ROMEOVILLE, Ill. - A 13-0 run over a four-minute span in the second half was the difference in a 69-58 victory by the Lewis University women's basketball over Missouri-St. Louis.

Lewis (8-8, 5-4 Great Lakes Valley Conference) took the lead for good after junior Shante Glenn sank a pair of free throws with 16:55 left in the second half. The Flyers then built their 36-36 lead to 47-35 before UMSL (3-11, 1-9 GLVC) could stop the bleeding.

The Flyers eventually led by as many as 16 points before UMSL was able to pare the lead to its final margin.

Lewis was carried in the first half by sophomore Mary Moskal's 12 points and perfect shooting performance. Moskal finished the half 3 of 3 from the field and 6 of 6 from the free-throw line. She closed the game with a game-high 21 points. She was 6 of 8 from the field and 9 of 10 from the free-throw line and added six rebounds, three assists and a pair of steals.

Fellow sophomore Darcee Schmidt chipped in with 14 points and six rebounds. Erin Cox had eight points and a team-high seven rebounds. Glenn came off the bench to tally 10 points.

The Flyers forced 24 Riverwomen turnovers and limited them to 32.2 percent shooting.
