Men's Cross Country No. 12 Nationally, No. 3 In The Region

Oct. 5, 2004

ROMEOVILLE - The Lewis University men's cross country team slipped one spot to No. 12 in this week's Cross Country Coaches Association NCAA Division II national poll.

The Flyers, who were idle last weekend, retained the No. 3 Great Lakes Region ranking behind Grand Valley State (Mich.) and Hillsdale (Mich.). Southern Indiana is No. 4 and Saginaw Valley State (Mich.) is No. 5 in the region.

Adams State (Colo.) tops the national poll, followed by Western State (Colo.), California State-Chico, Abilene Christian (Texas), Harding (Ark.), Grand Valley State, Lock Haven (Pa.), Massachusetts-Lowell, South Dakota, Minnesota State-Mankato, Hillsdale and Lewis.

Southern Indiana is No. 21 and Saginaw Valley State is No. 25, giving the Great Lakes Region five top-25 teams. That number is second only to the North Central Region, which has six ranked teams.

The Flyers travel to Edwardsville this Saturday for the Illinois-Missouri Border Wars meet that begins at 10 a.m.
