Sept. 14, 2004 ROMEOVILLE - The Lewis University men's cross country team is ranked 20th in this week's Cross Country Coaches Association NCAA Division II national poll. The Flyers, who opened the 2004 season by winning the Northern Kentucky University Classic last Friday, are one of four nationally ranked Great Lakes Region teams, joining No. 7 Grand Valley State (Mich.), No. 12 Hillsdale (Mich.) and No. 18 Southern Indiana. Adams State (Colo.) is No. 1 and is followed in the top 10 by Western State (Colo.), California State-Chico, Harding (Ark.), Abilene Christian (Texas), Massachusetts-Lowell, Grand Valley State, Minnesota State-Mankato, Minnesota-Duluth and Stonehill (Mass.). Lock Haven (Pa.) leads the second 10 at No. 11, followed by Hillsdale, California-San Diego, Colorado-Colorado Springs, Truman State (Mo.), Cal Poly-Pomona, Kennesaw State (Ga.), Southern Indiana, Edinboro (Pa.) and Lewis. Southern Connecticut State, Central Missouri State, West Florida, Alaska-Anchorage and Shippensburg (Pa.) round out the top 25. |
