ROMEOVILLE, Ill. - Lewis University's Andy Lepkowski (Waukesha, Wis.) is the Great Lakes Valley Conference Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week, the conference office announced today. Lepkowski, a sophomore for the Flyers, led Lewis to a strong showing at the Elmhurst College Earlybird Invitational on Friday evening.

Lepkowski placed second overall in the 6,000 race with a time of 19:21 He helped the Flyers finish with 79 points in the five-team meet. His time was good for tenth among all GLVC runners after the first week of competition.

This was the Flyers season opener. Last year the Flyers placed fourth in the GLVC championship meet and as a freshman, Lepkowski finished 18th at the event.

The honor is Lepkowski's first of his career. The Flyers will return to racing Sept. 12 at the Bradley Open in Peoria, Ill.
