Jan. 30, 2007 ROMEOVILLE, Ill. - For a second consecutive year, Lewis University's Andy Tremble has been named Great Lakes Valley Conference Scholar-Athlete of the Year for men's cross country. Each year, the GLVC selects one student athlete in each conference sport as Scholar Athlete of the Year. The award is based upon athletic accomplishments and academic performance in the current season, and recipients are selected by a vote of member institutions' faculty athletics representatives. A senior nursing major and fall Deans' List student, Tremble became just the sixth runner in Lewis men's cross country history to earn All-America honors more than once when he finished 17th at the NCAA Division II Championship last fall. He repeated as conference champion and GLVC Runner of the Year as he led the Flyers to a second-place finish at the GLVC Championship, and he garnered all-region accolades by finishing second at the NCAA Division II Great Lakes Regional Championship. Tremble was selected GLVC Runner of the Week twice this season, earning the award after finishing second at the Loyola Lakefront Invitational and third at the Border War Championship. |
