INDIANAPOLIS - Behind a second-consecutive all-conference performance by Lewis University senior Andrew Northrup, the Flyers finished fourth at the Great Lakes Valley Conference Men's Cross Country Championship on Saturday. Northrup ran the 8K course in 25:35.50, 27 seconds faster than his time from a season ago, to finish in eighth place among 112 runners. He was 47 seconds off the pace of race-champion Paul Jellema of Southern Indiana. Freshman Andy Lepkowski was Lewis' second-fastest runner, finishing in 18th place. He posted a time of 26:08.50. Senior Adrian Myers (26:33.70) came in 28th, and senior Sinan Khamo (26:43.50) was 31st. Junior Patrick Walsh (26:44.30) finished right behind Khamo in 32nd place. Junior Jeff Ritzema (27:02.20) and senior Kevin Dockemeyer (28:06.40) completed the Flyers' scoring group, placing 43rd and 72nd respectively. Also competing for Lewis were senior Emory Burdette (28:35.90) in 87th place and freshman Seth Schultz (29:21.96) in 94th place. The Flyers (115 points) finished behind Champion Southern Indiana (41 points), second-place finisher Northern Kentucky (66 points) and third-place Missouri-Rolla (89 points). The Screaming Eagles have won the title each of the past four seasons. Next up for Lewis is the NCAA Division II Great Lakes Regional on Nov. 3. |
