Men's Cross Country Finishes 11th At Lucian Rosa Invitational

Kenosha, Wis. - Lewis University sophomore Rocky Medero (River Grove, Ill./Guerin Prep) raced to a team-best 41st-place finish to help the Flyer men's cross country squad to an 11th place finish at UW-Parkside's Lucian Rosa Invitational on the Wayne E. Dannehl National Cross Country Course on Saturday afternoon.

Wayne State won the overall race with 38 points, while DePaul's Matthew Graham took home the 8K title with a time of 25:17.4.

Lewis sophomore Scott Tanis (Yorkville, Ill./Yorkville) was the second Flyer to cross the finish line with a 50th-place finish of 27:41.6. Freshman Thomas Campbell (St. Louis, Mo./Parkway West) raced to a time of 27:48.6, while junior Seth Schultz (Elmwood, Ill./Elmwood) was close behind with a time of 28:07.8. Sophomore John Deutsch (St. Charles, Ill./St. Charles East) rounded out the Flyers' top five with a time of 29:04.5.

"I thought we executed our plan to perfection," Lewis assistant cross country coach Rick Hammer said. "We ran about as good of a race as I expected."

The Flyers will take two weeks off before they head to the Great Lakes Valley Conference Cross Country Championships, hosted by Bellarmine, for a 10:30 a.m. start on Saturday, October 24th.
