Sept. 16, 2005 NOTRE DAME, Ind. - Andy Tremble turned in a stellar early-season performance Friday, finishing third overall and first among non-NCAA Division I competitors at the National Catholic Cross Country Invitational. The Flyers easily captured the non-Division I team title (20 teams), scoring 47 points to runner-up Saint Vincent College's 98. In the overall scoring, Lewis tallied 146 points and finished fourth among 33 teams, trailing only Duquesne, Notre Dame and Xavier. Tremble ran the five-mile race, which featured 265 runners, in 25:17. Sinan Khamo (25:53) placed 20th overall and fifth in non-Division I, while Larry Anzalone (26:19) finished 34th/10th and Andrew Northrup (26:24) placed 35th/11th. Chris Foley (26:51) rounded out the Lewis scoring group in 57th/20th. Also competing for the Flyers were Josh Thompson (27:00), 63rd/24th; Alberto Villa (27:03), 68th/28th; Darren Orange (27:17), 78th/32nd; and Adrian Myers (27:24), 84th/35th. Flyers competing in the junior-varsity race were Jeff Ritzema, eighth among 74 runners (27:40), Ryan Sather, 14th (28:01), Evan Sather, 15th (28:01), Adam Singleton, 24th (28:35) and Albert Escanilla, 36th (29:03). |
