Peoria, Ill. - The Lewis men's cross country squad received a pair of top-15 performances from sophomores Scott Tanis (Yorkville, Ill./Yorkville) and Rocky Medero (River Grove, Ill./Guerin Prep) on their way to a third-place finish in the College Division at the 24th Annual 8K Bradley Open at Detweiler Park on Friday evening.

Tanis finished 12th overall with a time of 26:21, followed by Medero's 13th-place mark of 26:22. Lewis freshman Thomas Campbell (St. Louis, Mo./Parkway West) earned an 18th place mark of 26:41, while teammate Seth Schultz (Elmwood, Ill./Elmwood) was 24th, crossing the finish line in 27:00. Sophomore John Deutsch (St. Charles, Ill./St. Charles East) rounded out the top five for the Flyers with a 39th-place time of 27:47.

"Everyone in our top five finished where they were supposed to," Lewis head men's cross country coach Dana Schwarting said. "I'm very pleased with the performance."

North Central had a clean sweep of the top five runners and scored a perfect 15 points, followed by Illinois Wesleyan (94) and Lewis (106).

Lewis will take two weeks off before participating in the highly prestigious Roy Griak Invitational, hosted by the University of Minnesota, in St. Paul on September 26th.

A Catholic university sponsored by the De La Salle Christian Brothers, Lewis offers nearly 80 undergraduate majors and programs of study, accelerated degree completion options for working adults, various aviation programs and 22 graduate programs in nine fields. The 10th largest private, not-for-profit university in Illinois is being honored for the sixth consecutive year by The Princeton Review and U.S. News & World Report.
