ROMEOVILLE, Ill. - The 2008 Lewis University men's volleyball recruiting class has been named among the top ten in the nation by Volleyball Magazine. The January 2008 issue of Volleyball Magazine named the Flyers' 2008 class as the No. 10 class in the country. The only other Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association school cracking the top ten was Ball State at No. 9. The Lewis class is highlighted by Volleyball Magazine Fab 50 selections OH/Opp. Brian Muesenfechter and OH/Opp. Gustavo Cintron. They are joined by freshmen MB Matt Gallik, OH/Opp. Brian Schmidt, MB Aaron Flick and OH Mario Vivona. Rounding out head coach Dan Friend's 2008 class are transfers junior S Andy Frontz and sophomore S Mike Iandolo. "Our class really helps us improve our height quickly. With an average height between 6'5" and 6'6" it should really improve our net play," Friend said. The Flyers open their regular season at Penn State on Jan. 11. Lewis' first home match is Jan. 18 against Lees-McRae. |
