ROMEOVILLE, Ill. - Lewis University senior outside hitter Drew Pickering (Wauwatosa, Wis./Wauwatosa West) has been named to the Volleyball Magazine All-America Second Team as announced in the July 2009 issue. The honor comes on the heels of Pickering's American Volleyball Coaches Association All-America Second Team selection last month. Pickering, the 2009 Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association Player of the Year, led the MIVA in kills (4.15) and points (4.84). He finished his career fifth all-time in Lewis history in kills (1,348), sixth in digs (630) and second in aces (139). "This is another great honor for Drew," head coach Dan Friend said. "I'm proud of Drew and pleased to see his hard work recognized." Pickering helped the Flyers to a 21-8 (7-3 MIVA) mark in 2009, Lewis' second straight 20-win season. Lewis finished the year ranked No. 12 in the nation. Seven other Lewis men's volleyball players have earned recognition on Volleyball Magazine All-America squads a total of eight times since 1996. ##LEWIS##
