Fayette, Iowa - The Lewis University men's tennis team got off on the right foot over the weekend, as the Flyers won six out of a possible nine flights at the Upper Iowa Challenge.

"Our men played extremely well this weekend," Lewis head men's tennis coach Brett Bridel said. "We still have lots of work to do, but it was a great way to get the fall season started."

Sophomores Uno Lapimaa (Tallin, Estonia/Audentese), Tonis Irdoja (Tallin, Estonia/Rocca Al Mare Kool), junior Lorenz Pestinger (Bad Homburg, Germany/Humboltdschule/Missouri Valley) and freshman Jesse Hardacre (Racine, Wis./St. Catherine's) each went undefeated to claim the No. 1 thru 4 flight singles titles.

Junior Will Cundy (Lansing, Ill./T.F. South/Moraine Valley C.C.) advanced to the No. 6 flight championship, but fell short in his bid for a title.

Lapimaa and Pestinger teamed up to capture the No. 1 doubles flight title with a pair of victories, while Irdoja and Hardacre were champs at No. 2 doubles.

A Catholic university sponsored by the De La Salle Christian Brothers, Lewis offers nearly 80 undergraduate majors and programs of study, accelerated degree completion options for working adults, various aviation programs and 22 graduate programs in nine fields. The 10th largest private, not-for-profit university in Illinois is being honored for the sixth consecutive year by The Princeton Review and U.S. News & World Report.
