Tim Vance is a senior midfielder for the No. 20 Lewis men's soccer team who recently concluded their memorable 2009 campaign with a run to the NCAA Division II 'Final Four'. This will be the final entry of his blog.

Day 4: Friday December 4th

Wow, what a season! What a great four years! I can't believe it is actually over, it flew by so fast.

As I'm sure you all heard, saw, or watched, we lost a heartbreaking game yesterday in PKs. It was definitely not the way we wanted to go out, but we left everything on the field...and there is not much more you can ask for.

It was pretty hard to take, coming to the realization that that would be the last collegiate game for our nine seniors. I want to give a shout out to my 8 other seniors (Nestor, Charlie, Art, Justin, Kipp, Alex, Mark, and Joey) that worked so hard for the past four seasons.

I am truly proud and blessed to be apart of such a great group of not only soccer players, but individuals that were able to accomplish and develop so much these past four years. I also want to thank Coach and Cale for everything that you have done for us. You truly did bring out the best of us through good times and bad, and I'm very appreciative for it all.

I also want to thank all the family and friends that were able to make the trip down to Tampa to support and root us on. I especially want to thank Connor and his family for also making the trip down. It was amazing and unexpected to see you when you arrived and to be by our sides again for the semi-final match.

We had breakfast together as a team and then packed to head back home. It was time to go back to school and the cold Midwest.

The most unexpected thing happened as we pulled into the Lewis University Drive. There were about 50 students, athletes, and administrators there to welcome us back. It was unbelievable to have this support waiting for us with the freezing weather.

Well that about sums up the trip and season. Stay tuned in for next year's alumni game. I'm not making any promises, but there may be history in the making with the first Alumni victory in Coach Fiffles tenure ;)!!
