Romeoville, Ill. – The awards keep rolling in for Lewis University senior midfielder Cory Mastey (Tinley Park, Ill./Andrew). After garnering both All-Great Lakes Valley and Midwest Region First Team honors, Mastey was named to the 2008 Daktronics NCAA Division II Men’s Soccer All-American Honorable Mention Team, announced on Wednesday morning. “It’s nice to see Cory get recognized for his efforts this season,” Lewis University head men’s soccer coach Evan Fiffles said. “He certainly played a key role in the success we had this year as a team.” Mastey, who scored 10 goals and finished with 24 total points on the season, helped Lewis advance to the “Sweet 16” of the 2008 NCAA Division II Men’s Soccer Tournament. That was the furthest the Flyers had advanced since the 2000 campaign. Sports Information Directors from NCAA Division II schools and conferences sponsoring men’s soccer selected the All-America teams. The process begins at the regional level with all first team All-Region picks advancing to the national ballot. A Catholic University sponsored by the De La Salle Christian Brothers, Lewis offers nearly 80 undergraduate majors and programs of study, accelerated degree completion options for working adults, various aviation programs and 22 graduate programs in nine fields. The mid-sized university is being honored for the fifth consecutive year by The Princeton Review and U.S. News & World Report. For more information please visit www.lewisu.edu. ##LEWIS## |
