Romeoville, Ill. - If they don't score, they can't win. Thanks in part to junior defender Zac Bond (Decatur, Ill./MacArthur), the Lewis University men's soccer team has a chance at the NCAA Division II Men's Soccer Championship this weekend, as the No. 20 Flyers battle No. 9 Lees-McRae at 1 p.m. (CST) in the `Final Four' on Thursday afternoon at Tampa's Pepin Stadium. For his efforts, Bond has been selected to the Daktronics NCAA Division II Men's Soccer Honorable Mention Team, voted on members of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). "I'm excited and proud for Zac," Lewis head men's soccer coach Evan Fiffles said. "He's been a big part of our success this season, but our job isn't quite finished yet." Bond was the lynchpin of the Flyer defense that held opponents to 0.51 goals-per-game. A Catholic university sponsored by the De La Salle Christian Brothers, Lewis offers nearly 80 undergraduate majors and programs of study, accelerated degree completion options for working adults, various aviation programs and 22 graduate programs in nine fields. The 9th largest private, not-for-profit university in Illinois is being honored for the sixth consecutive year by The Princeton Review and U.S. News & World Report.
