ROMEOVILLE - TIto Lara scored two second-half goals and the Lewis defense recorded its fifth shutout of the season Sunday in the Flyers' 2-0 men's soccer victory over Indianapolis.

Lara knocked in his second goal of the season with an assist from Levar Cypress at the 54:33 mark. The junior midfielder gave the Flyers a cushion with another goal at 69:04, this time assisted by Cathal Brady.

Lewis outshot Indianapolis 25-9 and allowed the Greyhounds just two shots on goal. The Flyers also earned an 8-1 advantage in corner kicks.

The victory gave Lewis a 9-0-1 overall record and a 3-0-1 Great Lakes Valley Conference mark, while Indianapolis fell to 3-4-2 overall and 0-2-1 in league play. The 9-0-1 start matches that of the 2001 Flyers, who went on to post a 20-1-1 final record.

The Flyers, ranked No. 2 nationally in NCAA Division II and No. 1 in the Great Lakes Region, host Mercyhurst (Pa.) Wednesday at 1 p.m. in an important region game. Mercyhurst is ranked No. 2 in the Great Lakes and No. 9 nationally.
