ROMEOVILLE - It took almost 80 minutes for Lewis to crack a stubborn Saint Joseph's defense, but the Flyers scored two late goals and defeated the Pumas 2-0 Friday in a Great Lakes Valley Conference men's soccer game. TIto Lara tallied his first goal of the season at 79:39, and Alejandro Blinder added an insurance goal, his third, at 86:45. Justin Sanabria assisted on both scoring plays to lift his team-leading assist total to seven. Goalkeeper Jordan Gustman made two saves for the Flyers (8-0-1, 2-0-1 GLVC), who are ranked No. 2 nationally and No. 1 in the Great Lakes Region in this week's NCAA Division II polls. Saint Joseph's fell to 1-7-1 overall and 0-2-1 in league play. Lewis hosts GLVC opponent Indianapolis Sunday at noon. |
