The Flyers are 5-0 when Cory Mastey scores a goal

Flyers Knock Off Quincy, 1-0

Sept. 21, 2007

Box Score

QUINCY, Ill. - Junior Cory Mastey scored his team-leading eighth goal of the season to propel the Lewis Flyers to a key conference victory in a 1-0 decision over Quincy Friday night.

Mastey, who had been held without a goal in each of the Flyers' last four games, found the back of the net at 78:03 with an assist from sophomore Joey De Francesco. It was Mastey's third game-winning marker of the season, which leads the team.

Junior Anthony Szymel stopped two shots to notch his seventh win and second shutout of the season.

The Flyers took nine shots in the game, with three on goal. Quincy also managed nine total shots.

The Hawks were whistled for 15 fouls compared to 13 by Lewis, and the host team held a 5-4 advantage in corner kicks.

Lewis, winners of three straight games, improved to 7-2 (3-2 GLVC), while Quincy fell to 6-2-1 (3-2 GLVC).

The Flyers look to match their season-best win streak of four games when they face No. 21 Southern Illinois Edwardsville on Sunday afternoon.
