LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Lewis grabbed an early lead in its Great Lakes Valley Conference men's soccer opener Friday afternoon, but host Bellarmine scored the equalizer early in the second half to gain a 1-1 tie with the Flyers. Matt Field (Mike Dahm assist) scored his second goal of the season at 6:00 to give Lewis (6-0-1) a 1-0 advantage. Bellarmine (2-2-2) tied the score at 51:00 on a goal by Ryan Coffey. Goalkeeper Jordan Gustman made nine saves for the Flyers, who play a GLVC contest at Kentucky Wesleyan Sunday. Lewis is ranked No. 3 nationally and No. 1 in the Great Lakes Region in this week's National Soccer Coaches Association of America NCAA Division II rankings. |
