ROMEOVILLE - Sophomore forward Cathal Brady scored an unassisted goal just 2:01 into the game, and he and his Lewis University teammates made it stand up for a 1-0 victory over Truman State Saturday in a battle of nationally ranked NCAA Division II men's soccer teams. Lewis, tied for fifth nationally and No. 1 in the Great Lakes Region, improved to 5-0. Truman State, tied for 18th nationally and No. 3 in the region, slipped to 2-1-1. The goal was Brady's first of the season. Senior goalkeeper Jordan Gustman stopped all six shots on goal by Truman State, which lost despite outshooting Lewis 22-8 overall. The Flyers host Rockhurst Sunday in another important Great Lakes Region matchup. Game time is noon. |
