Sept. 1, 2007 ROMEOVILLE, Ill. - The No. 25 Lewis Flyers defeated the Northwood Timberwolves 2-0 Saturday afternoon at the Lewis Soccer Field. Junior Cory Mastey scored his seventh goal of the season at 17:41. The goal was assisted by sophomores Nestor Hernandez and Tim Vance. Freshman Jose Ibarra scored his second goal in as many games at 59:00 to give the Flyers a two-goal lead. Sophomore Kipp Cartwright assisted on the goal. The Timberwolves out-shot the Flyers 14-11, but recorded only two shots on goal. Junior goalkeeper Anthony Szymel earned the shutout. The Flyers improved to 4-0, while Northwood fell to 0-2. Lewis returns to action on Friday night at Northern Kentucky. It will be the Flyers first conference contest of the season. |
