Aug. 29, 2004 ROMEOVILLE - Justin Sanabria tallied two goals and three assists and Scott Hall scored two goals Sunday to lead the Lewis University men's soccer team to an 8-2 non-conference victory over Upper Iowa. Sanabria assisted on the Flyers' first two goals scored by Matt Field at 2:00 and Alejandro Blinder at 4:56. A goal by Sergio Lira (Sebastian Falinski, Mike Dahm assists) followed at 15:01, and Sanabria (Levar Cypress) knocked in his first goal at 15:31 to give Lewis a 4-0 cushion. Kyle Touchette scored an unassisted goal at 27:14 for Upper Iowa (0-2), which is making a transition from NCAA Division III to Division II. Sanabria's penalty-kick goal at 39:02 and Hall's first goal (Lira, Sanabria) at 43:41 made it 6-1 Lewis at intermission. Goals by Hall (Nick Kowalski) at 50:20 and Kowalski (Ryan Doody) at 79:52 concluded the scoring for Lewis (2-0). Upper Iowa's Greg Stice (Touchette) netted the game's final goal at 88:35. Lewis outshot Upper Iowa 36-4, including a 16-2 edge in shots on goal. |
