Aug. 15, 2006 ROMEOVILLE, Ill. - Lewis University senior Lloyd Roth is one of just 32 NCAA Division II men's golf student athletes to be named an All-America Scholar for 2005-06. Only juniors and seniors with at least a 3.2 cumulative grade-point average are eligible for the award, which is sponsored by Cleveland Golf and administered by the Golf Coaches Association of America. Also, Division II golfers must have a season stroke average under 78. Roth, who carries a double major of business administration and economics, led last year's Lewis team with a 75.61 stroke average. He was the Flyers' leading golfer in six tournaments (most on the team), posted five top-20 finishes and tied his career best with a 69 at Ferris State's Bulldog Fall Invitational. In the classroom, Roth earned Great Lakes Valley Conference All-Academic honors, Lewis' Delahanty Award for academic excellence among student athletes and a place on the fall Deans' List. Roth's selection marks the 12th time a Lewis golfer has been recognized as an All-America Scholar. The Flyers have had at least one player chosen in four of the past five seasons. |
