April 26, 2006 ROMEOVILLE, Ill. - Lewis University will host the NCAA Division II Men's Golf Great Lakes/Central Super Regional May 1-3 at Prairie Bluff Golf Club in Lockport. The Great Lakes/Central tournament is one of five 54-hole super regionals in Division II men's golf. Eight teams and five individuals from each region (a total of 90 golfers) will compete on Prairie Bluff's par-72, 6,893-yard layout for the right to advance to the 72-hole NCAA Division II Championship, scheduled for May 16-19 at The Resort at Glade Springs in Daniels, West Virginia. Play begins at 8 a.m. each day, and admission is free. The top team from each region within the super regional will advance to the NCAA Championship, as will the leader among the 10 individuals not participating on any of the 16 teams. A total of 20 teams will advance to the national tournament. Joining the 10 regional champions that emerge from the five super regionals will be four additional teams from the West/Northwest super regional and three additional teams each from the Atlantic/Southeast and South/South Central super regionals. Grand Valley State (Mich.) is the top-seeded team in the Great Lakes Region, followed by Ferris State (Mich.), Northern Kentucky, Saginaw Valley State (Mich.), Bellarmine (Ky.), Northwood (Mich.), Southern Illinois Edwardsville and Indianapolis. Great Lakes individual qualifiers are Dave Patronik of Gannon (Pa.), Corey Sell of Wisconsin-Parkside, Eric Atsma of Findlay (Ohio), Joe Wilson of Wayne State (Mich.) and Sumeet Arora of Lewis (Ill.). Missouri Western State tops the Central Region, followed by Washburn (Kan.), Winona State (Minn.), Central Missouri State, Missouri Southern State, Minnesota-Crookston, Bemidji State (Minn.) and Truman State (Mo.). Central individual participants are Tyler Newton and Clay Brandenburgh of Southwest Baptist (Mo.), Brandon Mallick of Pittsburg State (Kan.), and Josh Wells and Craig Singorin of Upper Iowa. Located on 237 acres of rolling terrain, and with 10 lakes and more than 40 bunkers, Prairie Bluff was designed by two-time U.S. Open champion Andy North and Roger Packard. |
