April 23, 2005 ROMEOVILLE - For a third consecutive year, the Lewis University men's golf team is one of eight teams selected to compete in the NCAA Division II Great Lakes Regional Championship. The Flyers will join fellow Great Lakes Valley Conference teams Northern Kentucky, Indianapolis and Wisconsin-Parkside and Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference representatives Grand Valley State, Ferris State, Wayne State and Northwood at the 54-hole regional tournament, scheduled for May 2-4 at the St. Joseph Country Club in St. Joseph, Mo. The Great Lakes Regional is one of 10 Division II regional tournaments and will be played in conjunction with the Central Regional in St. Joseph. The other eight regional tournaments are paired at four other "Super-Regional" sites. A victory at the Great Lakes Regional would advance the Flyers to the NCAA Division II Championship in Savannah, Ga., May 17-20. At last year's regional, Lewis tied for sixth in the team standings and the Flyers' Jason Buffone tied for third in the individual standings. Buffone tied for sixth in 2003 and also competed in the 2002 regional as an individual qualifier. |
