LOCKPORT, Ill. - Lewis junior Casey Pyne (Bloomington, Ill./Bloomington) took second place by one stroke thanks to a 74-70=144 finish at the Lewis Mixed Fall Classic held at the Prairie Bluff Golf Club on Monday and Tuesday. His 70, the low round for the tournament, helped the Flyers (298-299=597) win the title, edging Lincoln's 293-306=599.

Junior Logan Watts (New Albany, Ind./New Albany) finished with a 73-74=147 to tie for third. Senior Paul Dagys (Oak Forest, Ill./Oak Forest) tied for sixth thanks to a 74-76=150 total. Freshman Brandon White (Sellersburg, Ind./Silver Creek) used a 78-79 and senior Peter Tanaka (Naperville, Ill./Waubonsie Valley) turned in a 77-80 to each tie for 18th with a 157.

Three Flyers played as individuals. Junior John Whiting (Bloomfield Hills, Mi./Detroit Country Day) carded a 76-74=150 to tie for 6th. Sophomore Nick Quagliano (Bartlett, Ill./Bartlett) and freshman Mark Bermele (Evergreen Park, Ill./Brother Rice) each totaled 153 to tie for 8th. Quagliano did it with a 75-78 performance while Bermele totaled a 74 and 79.

"The men played a terrific round in cold and windy conditions," head coach Skip Steffey said. "Paced again by Casey, who is proving that the tougher the conditions the better he plays."

The top two men's and women's scores were combined for a mixed total.

Pyne and Watts' were combined with the top two Lewis women to total a 624. Missouri-St. Louis edged out the Flyers by tallying a 621 mixed score.

The tournament rounds out the Flyers' fall schedule.

"The men completed a solid fall season," Steffey said. "It should lead to a strong spring and hopefully an NCAA appearance especially if Casey, Paul and Logan can continue their consistent play."
