CLEVELAND, Miss. - Top-20 finishes by Jason Buffone and Dean Katsaros propelled the Lewis University men's golf team to fourth place at the 15-team Derrall Foreman Invitational Friday and Saturday. Buffone carded consecutive rounds of 70 to finish at 4-under-par 140, tying him for fourth place in the 81-player field at Cleveland Golf Club. Katsaros tied for 19th, shooting 74 in both rounds to finish at 148. Delta State's Clark Richardson (136) was the medalist. Lloyd Roth (75-75=150) and Peter Schrum (72-78=150) tied for 26th, and Curt Trizzino (85-79=164) tied for 71st. Lewis (291-297=588) trailed first-round leader and eventual champion Delta State by just one stroke following the opening round, but the host Statesmen fired a 15-under-par 273 in round two to pull away from the field with a 563 total. Mobile (583) was second and Arkansas Tech (585) was third. |
