NORMAL - The Lewis University men's golf team opened the 2004-05 season by finishing eighth at Illinois State University's D.A. Weibring Intercollegiate Sunday and Monday.

Jason Buffone led the Flyers and tied for 27th place with rounds of 76-81-71 for a 228 total. Also competing for Lewis were Peter Schrum, tied for 30th (78-75-77=230); Rob Peters (82-80-80=242) and Dean Katsaros (80-77-85=242), tied for 42nd; and Curt Trizzino, tied for 45th (80-86-78=244).

The Flyers assembled a 933 team total at the par-71 ISU Golf Course. Western Illinois (869) won the team title.
