April 12, 2005 COLUMBUS, Ind. - Jason Buffone and Peter Schrum finished among the top 10 to lead the Lewis University men's golf team to a second-place tie at the Great Lakes Valley Conference Men's Golf Championship which concluded Tuesday. Buffone placed fifth and carded rounds of 74-76-71 for a 54-hole total of 5-over-par 221, five shots behind champion David Shearer of Northern Kentucky. Schrum tied for 10th and collected GLVC Freshman of the Year honors, posting rounds of 75-71-80 for a 226 total at the par-72, 6,897-yard Otter Creek Golf Course. The Flyers registered team scores of 299-302-300 for a final tally of 901, 11 strokes behind champion Wisconsin-Parkside. Curt Trizzino turned in a solid tie for 12th place with rounds of 75-75-77=227. Also competing for Lewis in the 49-player field were Lloyd Roth, tied for 19th (75-80-76=231), and Dean Katsaros, tied for 26th (75-84-76=235). |
