March 8, 2005 PICKWICK DAM, Tenn. - Lewis senior Jason Buffone won a playoff to capture medallist honors at the University of Tennessee-Martin's Grover Page Classic. Buffone and Murray State's Kyle Shirley finished the 54-hole tournament, played at the par-72, 6,483-yard Pickwick State Park course, tied at even-par 216. Buffone fired a 69, tying his season best, in the final round. The Flyers finished fifth among 10 teams with a 908 total (307-302-299). Lewis placed highest among three NCAA Division II schools and also defeated Division I opponents Loyola Chicago, Bradley and Chicago State. Peter Schrum tied for 21st in the 67-player field with rounds of 79-73-74 for a 226 total. Also competing for Lewis were Dean Katsaros, tied for 37th (83-75-75=233); Curt Trizzino, tied for 52nd (80-80-81=241); Lloyd Roth, tied for 52nd (75-84-82=241); Rob Peters, 56th (83-85-80=248); and Ryan Hewson, 58th (82-82-89=253). |
