Men's Basketball: Lewis at Bradley Game Notes in PDF Format
Romeoville, Ill. - For the second-straight season, the Lewis University men's basketball team heads to Peoria, Illinois for an exhibition showdown with the Division I Bradley Braves on Sunday (Nov. 8) afternoon. Tip-off is set for 2:05 p.m. at the Carver Center. The contest will be broadcast live on WLRA (88.1 FM) and will be streamed live on LewisFlyers.com. Brett Lyons provides the play-by-play, while Spencer Wheeler handles the color analysis. Head Coaches: Lewis head men's basketball coach Scott Trost enters his fourth season at the helm of the Flyers and has a record of 51-36 (.586). In 12 seasons of coaching, Trost owns a mark of 204-122 (.626). Bradley head coach Jim Les has a career record of 126-105 in eight years as the Braves' head coach. Last Time We Met: Despite 20 points from Jason Genova and a double-double of 19 points and 10 rebounds from Brandon Dagans, the visiting Flyers were unable to overcome Bradley, as the Braves claimed the 74-61 exhibition win over Lewis on November 3, 2008. Last Time Out: Sophomores Chris McClellan (18 points) and Marty Strus (14 points, 11 rebounds) combined for 32 of the Flyers 54 tallies as the Flyers fell 70-54 to Notre Dame in an exhibition contest at the Purcell Pavilion last Sunday (Nov. 1). Point Person: With the graduation of a pair of 1,000-point scorers in Brandon Dagans and Jason Genova, the Flyers will have to look to replace that output. Leading returning scorer Dennis Thomas (10.2 ppg.) will move from point guard to shooting guard, while sophomore Chris McClellan will take over the point guard duties for the Flyers. As a freshman, McClellan converted a team-best 43.1% of his three-point attempts. Block Party: Strus made quite the impact as a freshman in 2008-09, as the 6-foot-10 center set the Lewis single-season record with 50 blocked shots. As a team, Lewis surpassed the previous team blocked shots record of 108 with 110 swats in `08-'09. MASH Unit: Lewis' top returning rebounder, junior forward Lonnie Lawrence (6.3 rpg.) will miss the 2009-10 campaign after tearing his left anterior cruciate ligament during preseason practice. Lawrence missed the last 10 games of his freshman season after tearing the same ACL. |
