Head Men's Basketball Coach Scott Trost Adds Condric Sanders To Staff

Sept. 14, 2009

Romeoville, Ill. - Lewis University head men's basketball coach Scott Trost announced on Monday (Sept. 14) that he has hired Condric Sanders as his assistant coach.

A veteran of the collegiate coaching ranks, Sanders spent last season as an assistant for Robert Morris University in Chicago. While there, Sanders helped the Eagles to a mark of 29-4 and a berth in the 2009 `NAIA Final Four'.

Prior to joining Robert Morris, Sanders spent 10 years as both a student and assistant coach for Highland Community College from 1998 through 2008. While there, the Cougars made five straight appearances in the NJCAA Division 1 National Tournament, including a berth in the 2006 `Final Four'.

"Condric brings a wealth of experience to our staff," Trost said. "He has been instrumental in the success of Highland Community College and Robert Morris University. He is a proven recruiter with many ties, not only in Chicago, but in the upper Midwest. Condric is a quality person and is an excellent addition to Lewis University and our men's basketball program."

Sanders also serves as a substitute teacher in the Chicago Public School system and as a youth care worker for Methodist Youth Services.

Sanders replaces Harley Piercy, who left his position in July to pursue other career opportunities.

"Harley was a great asset to our team, a wonderful coach and a proud alumnus of Lewis University," Trost said. "He will be sorely missed and we wish him the best of luck in his future endeavors."

A Catholic university sponsored by the De La Salle Christian Brothers, Lewis offers nearly 80 undergraduate majors and programs of study, accelerated degree completion options for working adults, various aviation programs and 22 graduate programs in nine fields. The 10th largest private, not-for-profit university in Illinois is being honored for the sixth consecutive year by The Princeton Review and U.S. News & World Report.
