Trost Adds One More Recruit

June 11, 2007

ROMEOVILLE, Ill. - Lewis University head men's basketball coach Scott Trost has announced the signing of Dennis Thomas, Jr. (Milwaukee, Wis./Bradley Tech H.S.) to a National Letter of Intent.

Thomas, a 6-foot-1 guard, averaged 12 points, five rebounds and four assists per game as a senior under head coach Gary DePerry. The Trojans finished 17-7 last season and ranked 14th in the state.

Thomas was named to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel Gold Division all-conference team and was named by MilwaukeeHoops.com as one of the Top 15 players in the state of Wisconsin.

"Dennis' attributes fit very well in to the way we want to play," Trost said. "He is a very athletic player who can play either the point guard or off-guard. We are excited to add Dennis to the Lewis University family."

Thomas is the third member of the 2007-08 recruiting class, joining 6-foot-4, 210-pound Lonnie Lawrence (Bloomington, Ill./Bloomington H.S.) and 6-foot-8, 220-pound Steve Crane (Elmhurst, Ill./York H.S.).

Lewis, a member of the NCAA Division II and the Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC), made significant strides during the 2006-07 season. The Flyers posted a winning record (15-13) and qualified for the GLVC post-season tournament for the first time in three years in Trost's initial campaign at the controls.

Among the Flyers' returning players for 2007-08 are guard Brandon Dagans, the GLVC's leading scorer and an All-GLVC and All-Great Lakes Region first-team selection; forward Stephan Bolt, a 2006-07 All-GLVC honorable mention selection; and forward Jason Genova, the GLVC's sixth-leading scorer.
