Romeoville, Ill. - The National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) announced that Lewis University senior guard Brandon Dagans (Harvey, Ill./Thornton) has been named to the 2009 State Farm Coaches' Division II All-America squad, as voted on by member coaches of the NABC. Dagans is the fifth player in Lewis school history that has been feted on an All-America team, joining Larry Tucker (American Basketball Coaches, 1983), Milosh Pujo (NABC, Basketball Times, Basketball News, 1999), Tarrie Monroe (NABC, 2000) and Monta McGhee (NABC, 2004). "This is a wonderful honor for both Brandon and Lewis University," Lewis head men's basketball coach Scott Trost said. "He has put in a tremendous amount of work throughout his career and it's good to see that it has paid off for him." This is one of many postseason awards that Dagans has received this year, as he was named to the NABC All-Midwest District First Team and Daktronics All-Midwest Region Division II Men's Basketball team, as voted on by the members of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). Dagans, who was twice named the Great Lakes Valley Conference Player of the Week this season, averaged a team-best 19.4 points-per-game - which was good for the ninth-highest scoring average in Lewis history for a single-season. That performance helped propel Dagans to an All-GLVC First Team selection - the second such honor of his career. A Catholic university sponsored by the De La Salle Christian Brothers, Lewis offers nearly 80 undergraduate majors and programs of study, accelerated degree completion options for working adults, various aviation programs and 22 graduate programs in nine fields. The 10th largest private, not-for-profit university in Illinois is being honored for the fifth consecutive year by The Princeton Review and U.S. News & World Report.
