QUINCY, Ill. - It was a tale of two halves for the Lewis University men's basketball team in a 79-64 Great Lakes Valley Conference loss to 25th-ranked Quincy Thursday night. Lewis scored 42 points in the first half, its highest total in any half this season, and led 42-33 at intermission. Red-hot shooting was the key as the Flyers were 16-of-30 (.533) overall and 8-of-13 (.615) from 3-point distance in the opening stanza. Unfortunately, Lewis found a lid on its basket in the second half. The Flyers (5-2, 2-1 GLVC) shot just .250 (8-of-32) overall - .083 (1-of-12) from beyond the arc - and managed only 22 points, their lowest output in any half this year. Jason Genova netted a team season-high five 3-pointers (5-of-10) and topped the Lewis scoring chart with 18 points. Stephan Bolt tallied 13 points and 11 rebounds, giving him a third double-double in four games and a fourth double-digit rebounding total this season. Joel Box led Quincy (7-1, 2-1 GLVC) with 22 points and nine rebounds. The Flyers travel to Southern Illinois Edwardsville for a Saturday afternoon GLVC contest. |
