KENOSHA, Wis. - Pat Monaghan scored 13 of his team-high 15 points in the second half, and the Lewis University men's basketball team came from behind to beat Wisconsin-Parkside 71-66 Tuesday night to snap a seven-game losing skid.

The victory, which also halted Parkside's three-game series winning streak, evens the Flyers' record at 11-11 and gives them one more win than they had last season. Now 5-9 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference, Lewis has equaled its conference win total of last year.

Monaghan was 5-of-8 from the floor in the second half, part of the Flyers' .583 shooting performance (14-of-24) following intermission. Lewis limited Parkside to a .444 mark (12-of-27) and earned a 19-11 rebounding edge in the second half, giving the Flyers a 32-28 advantage for the game.

The teams combined for 25 turnovers in a sloppy first half. The Flyers found themselves playing catch-up for most of the half as Parkside (13-9, 6-8) led by as many as nine points.

But trailing 28-20 at the 5:02 mark, Lewis fashioned a 10-2 run that evened the score at 30 just inside a minute. Tyrone Deacon's 3-pointer in the closing seconds gave the Rangers a 33-30 halftime lead.

Monaghan and Kendall Patterson each scored four early points to lift Lewis into a 41-all tie with 14:42 left. Two more ties followed before a Brandon Dagans 3-pointer and a John Loeffelholz jumper put the Flyers on top 50-45 with 11:18 to play.

Parkside regrouped, tying it at 52 and again at 54. The lead changed hands four times before the Rangers' Brad Ferstenou hit a 3-pointer to knot the score at 60 with 2:46 remaining.

Although the Flyers regained the lead for good on their next possession on Dustin Warfield's conventional 3-point play, some anxious moments were still to come. Two missed free throws gave Parkside a chance to tie with less than 30 seconds left, but Dagans stole the ball from Deacon, was fouled and calmly sank both freebies to provide the final margin.

Warfield was 6-of-7 and scored 14 points off the bench, and Dagans scored 12. Stephan Bolt grabbed 10 rebounds to lead Lewis in that category for an 18th time this season, and Monaghan added a career-high seven assists and five rebounds to his line.

Deacon (20 points, three steals), Kyle Clark (19 points, five assists) and Ferstenou (11 points, 11 rebounds, two blocks) led Parkside.

Lewis hosts Kentucky Wesleyan Saturday at 3 p.m.
