ROMEOVILLE, Ill. - Adam Stabosz pitched six strong innings and Joe Carbone was 2-for-3 with two RBI Monday in the Lewis University baseball team's 5-1 win over Oakland City in game one of a non-conference doubleheader that concluded the Flyers' 2007 season. Michael Fedoruk was 2-for-3 in game two, a 7-1 Oakland City victory. Stabosz allowed just five hits and two walks while striking out two. Kevin Tyrrell pitched a scoreless seventh inning and also fanned two. Billy Duffy was 2-for-3, and Brian Clancy hit his first collegiate career home run leading off the third to give the Flyers (8-47) a 1-0 lead. Lewis made it 2-0 in the fourth. Carbone's two-out single plated Duffy, who singled to lead off the inning. After Oakland City (19-25) cut the Lewis lead in half with a run in the sixth, the Flyers responded by scoring three times in the bottom of the inning. Duffy again led off with a single and came all the way around on Mike Smith's double. Smith scored on Carbone's single, and the third run crossed on a wild pitch. Ryan McManaman added a double to the Flyers' eight-hit attack. Reliever Chris Brigham tossed 3 1/3 effective innings in the nightcap. Brigham allowed one unearned run and three hits and did not walk a batter. |
