OAKLAND CITY, Ind. - Lewis pounded out 26 hits in Sunday's non-conference baseball doubleheader at Oakland City, but the hosts edged the Flyers 6-5 and 12-11 in a pair of seven-inning games. The Flyers had 12 hits in the opener. Phil Marchinski was 3-for-4 with three RBI, Jim Gabriel and Kevin Tyrrell both went 2-for-3 and Brandon Niewinski was 2-for-4. Gabriel hit his first home run of the season. Lewis (8-34) collected 14 hits in the nightcap. The Flyers scored five runs in the sixth to take an 11-6 lead, but Oakland City - which tallied the winning run in the bottom of the seventh in the opener - tied it in the bottom of the sixth and repeated its game-one heroics in the seventh. The Flyers resume Great Lakes Valley Conference play Tuesday with a doubleheader at Wisconsin-Parkside. |
