NORMAL - Dave Dobersztyn and Dan Probst led the Lewis University track and field teams Saturday at Illinois State University's Earlybird Invitational. Dobersztyn turned in runner-up finishes in the 60-meter hurdles (8.22, 8.21 in the preliminary round) and 200 meters (22.16), while Probst placed third in the 35-pound weight throw (56-0½) and fourth in the shot put (46-1½). Dobersztyn provisionally qualified for the NCAA Division II Indoor Championships in both events, and Probst provisionally qualified in the weight throw. Josh Grys finished second in the pole vault and provisionally qualified with a mark of 15-7. Adrian Myers in the mile (4:25.69), Jeff Zoellick in the high jump (6-4) and the 4x400-meter relay team of Geoff Rozovics, Mike Eck, Pat Reaney and J'ean Middleton (3:22.09) also registered second-place performances. Eck finished third in the 800 meters (1:55.74), and Dustin Long placed third in the 3000 meters (9:06.46). Byron Toliver was fifth in the 60 meters (6.96), Jeff Ritzema was fifth in the mile (4:39.99), Chance Eiker tied for sixth in the pole vault (14-1¼) and Rozovics was eighth in the 400 meters (51.47). Erin Mitchell led the Flyer women with a fifth-place effort in the pole vault (10-0). Alyssa Hancock finished sixth in the 60 meters (7.89), and Kara Witte placed eighth in the 20-pound weight throw (42-11). |
