ROMEOVILLE - The Lewis University women finished seventh among 19 teams Friday at the Chicagoland Indoor Track and Field Championship. Alyssa Hancock was the Flyers' top scorer. Hancock tallied 11 points with a second-place finish in the 55 meters (:07.36) and a sixth-place finish in the 200 meters (:27.10), and she was a member of the third-place 4x200-meter relay team (1:48.87) that also included Angela Whalen, Amanda Lewis and Sarah King. Terran Wertz finished second in the 800 meters (2:18.48) and joined Kristin Johnson, Stormie Surles and Theresa Dexl on the fourth-place distance medley relay squad (13:25.86). Katie Barney was runner-up in the long jump (17-8¼). Also scoring for the Flyers were Juliann Szablewski, fourth in the 5000 meters (19:25.37); Kaydie King, tied for fifth in the high jump (5-0); Millennium Wheeler, sixth in the triple jump (35-4½); Erin Mitchell, tied for sixth in the pole vault (10-0); Whalen, seventh in the 400 meters (1:00.92); and Kara Witte, eighth in the 20-pound weight throw (42-6). Lewis scored 52.16 points, just six points away from fifth place. Northern Illinois captured the Chicagoland title with 154 points. |
