CHICAGO - Lewis University track and field athletes enjoyed a very successful outing Saturday at the University of Chicago Pentangular. The Lewis men won eight events and produced four NCAA Division II provisional qualifying marks, while the Lewis women won three events and turned in one provisional qualifying effort. Billy Stadele won the 55-meter hurdles in 7.57 and Mark Zilch won the pole vault by soaring 16-2½, both NCAA qualifying marks. Stadele also qualified in the pole vault with a vault of 15-8½, while Dave Dobersztyn clocked a 7.60 to qualify in the 55-meter hurdles. Also winning for the Flyer men were Geoff Rozovics in the 200 meters (22.66), Brian Pedersen in the 400 meters (50.06), Mike Eck in the 800 meters (1:57.75), Jeff Zoellick in the high jump (6-3½), Jason Klein in the shot put (48-4¾), and the 4x400-meter relay team of Pedersen, J'ean Middleton, Eric McCants and Richard Sims (3:23.05). Alicia Wiese led the Flyer women with two victories and a national qualifying performance. Wiese won the weight throw and provisionally qualified for the national meet with a toss of 54-4½, and she captured the shot put with a mark of 40-4¾. Alyssa Hancock won the 55 meters in 7.54. |
