ROMEOVILLE, Ill. - Lewis University junior Kevin Coates (Louisville, Ky./Ballard) has been named the Division II Men's National Collegiate Swimmer of the Week by CollegeSwimming.com for his performance at Indianapolis on Saturday (Jan. 30). Coates had two wins in the dual meet at Indianapolis. The junior won the 500 freestyle (4:35.06) and the 1000 freestyle (9:31.00), both NCAA B times. "Kevin has had a strong and consistent year," head coach Steve Thompson said. "He has been focused on his upcoming GLIAC and NCAA Championship performances, and I have no doubt he will continue to be impressive through those swims." It is the second time in Coates' career he has been named the National Swimmer of the Week by CollegeSwimming.com. He took home his first award on Nov. 12, 2009. The Flyers are off until the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championships on Feb. 10-13 at Wayne State in Detroit, Mich.
